Scale norming is a concern for life satisfaction research: evidence from a new metric

New Working Paper, and what's this, it's empirical?! Presented it yesterday at the 3rd International Conference on Wellbeing to both excitement and consternation. One graph summary is that the following takes place when people respond to life satisfaction scale questions year on year, and this might invalidate most of what we currently think we know about life satisfaction.
